Generative AI is Destroying the Internet, People Hate AI Content
90 percent of all content on the internet could be AI-generated by 2025 according to a recent report by Europol Innovation Lab Observatory. That means the bulk of what you consume will be generated by soulless AI.
It is bad enough that Generative AI has wiped out over 90 percent of the income of most small publishers -no thanks to OpenAI and Chatgpt. Now, we are entering an era where generative AI is going to wipe out human-human online interaction by flooding the internet with AI garbage.
Do People Like AI-generated content?
I logged in to YouTube today to watch some videos from my favorite YouTuber, for some reason, he decided to start using AI for his videos. The whole video was awkward and didn’t connect with me. I was wondering if It was just me or the video.
Then decided to check the comment section, here are some of the reactions I could pick in the comment section, I think they are interesting; and center on various reasons people prefer real content
Poor quality
“Please, dont use generative AI for “art”- your videos without it were much better. You don’t need it and I see I’m not the only subscriber to comment on it. I usually unsub when i see an ai thumbnail but in this case my personal bias has stopped me from doing so for now. Please, just don’t use AI slop and ruin this awesome channel for so many viewers”
Theft of intellectual property of creators (artists)
“please bro i love you content but cut out the GenAi garbage! i don´t want to lose my respect for your content! just find someone to illustrate your content or use stock footage but genAi is literally robing creators of there work and by extension there jobs”
“I love your content, but please stop using generative AI for your thumbnails and videos. pay an artist.”
“I’m going to unsubscribe if you’re using ai thumbnails, no to ai”
“Great video, but the use of AI generated images isn’t it. Because they are made from stolen art, it’s not moral to use them”
“Sucks you have to use AI for your pictures. Stealing from artists is never good.”
People generally hate AI-generated content for these reasons
- The quality is generally poor and lacks creativity. AI Content sucks
- Ethical reasons – It destroys the works of creators, by creating cheap pirated versions of their work without paying the original creators
- It doesn’t connect with the audience, and shows laziness and lack of respect for your audience, basically dishing out garbage to them.
- The training and use of Generative AI has a huge impact on the environment. it has a huge carbon footprint.
