Elon Musks: “Grok 3 Is Outperforming Anything that has been released”
comes on the heels of OpenAI announcing the roadmap of their own GPT4.5 and GPT-5 in the coming weeks/montElon Musk has issued some chilling remarks on the capabilities of the soon-to-be-released AI model Grok 3. Thishs.
In his remark,
“Grok 3 has very powerful capabilities. In the test we have done thus far, Grok 3 is outperforming anything that has been released – that we are aware of. I think Grok 3 is kind of scary smart”
Grok 3 is the latest model of his AI startup -xAI.
It will be recalled that Musk, just a week earlier made a bid to buy OpenAI for $97.4 Billion, the leading contender for the top spot in AI development. If Grok 3 is outperforming OpenAI’s ChatGPT, why bother to make an offer to buy it at such an insane amount?
Grok 2 is not currently on the list of the top 10 performing models. So it will be interesting if Grok 3 takes the number 1 spot as the best-performing AI model
One thing for sure about the release of new AI models is that they tend to outperform other previously available models. Deepseek, for example, did much better than OpenAI’s best model at its release. It seems now that Grok 3 will be taking the top spot—if Elon’s statements are not all about creating hype.
Grok 3 Trained on a Lot of Synthetic Data
Elon mentioned that Grok 3 was trained on a lot of Synthetic data and is currently the model that is trained on the most amount of data. Synthetic data are data generated by a computer for training AI – as opposed to the ones a human will create organically.
Originally, AI was trained on organic data but we seem to have run out of those as much of the internet today is regurgitated AI content. This has created a problem for AI training as it was more or less cannibalizing its own data and giving out unimpressive outputs.
AI performs best by taking advantage of human creativity – something machines are not very good at doing.
The team xAI has found a way to make use of Synthetic data efficiently.
“also notably, Grok 3 was trained on a lot of synthetic data. And it goes back and forth through the data and tries to achieve logical consistencies. So if it’s got data that is wrong, it will reflect upon that and then remove them – data that does not accord with reality”
Other AI companies will catch up on this if they haven’t already.
Release date
Elon notes that they are in the final stage of polishing the model and that the base model was significantly better than Grok 2. And the release will be in about a week or two.
